TEFL QUALIFIED - VIDEO AND WRITTEN MATERIALS
Hello everyone! My name is Mark, and I am a British American, TEFL qualified English Teacher. If you have an interest in news, politics, or social issues, then I am the tutor for you! I teach fluency and pronunciation by focusing on the current events that are interesting to you.
WHAT MY LESSONS ARE LIKE
Before each lesson, I give each student a video to watch. This gives us something to talk about during our class, and makes sure that things stay fun and interesting! It also helps you learn English by improving your listening skills and introducing vocabulary that you might not have used before. Sometimes students are afraid to talk about topics that are more complex than the typical conversation subjects of hobbies and family. Using videos and conversational topics like modern music, art, and politics encourage students to challenge their English abilities.
If you make any significant mistakes in pronunciation or grammar during our conversations, I will help to correct you and give you some suggestions for avoiding the same mistakes in the future. I am especially trained to help with pronunciation for students who have thick accents.
After our conversation, we will spend about 15 or 20 minutes going over some written fiction together. This is an excellent way to introduce new vocabulary because fiction books tend to have a wider variety of words than conversational speech.
I am a TEFL Qualified English who has spent four years helping hundreds of students improve their English online. I have also taught in language academies in Peru, South Africa, and Thailand.
I love to travel, and have been to over 30 countries. My goal is to visit every country in the world, which I think will take my entire life. I am currently teaching while traveling in Peru and Colombia. I was born in the UK, but grew up in Texas. I recently graduated from University in Edinburgh. I am very interested in politics and social issues.
