Hello everyone/Hola a todos,
I am Rafa, I am from Palma (Spain) and I moved to Calgary, Canada for one year. I have worked for four years in the IT industry but I was not happy with my career so I am working to reorient my professional career towards something I really like, I have always liked to teach, and a year ago I decided to certify myself as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, and for the last 8 months I have been an online Spanish teacher.
There is no day when I don't need to catch up and update my knowledge in order to offer the best service and quality in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. I like to make the most of my time in class, prepare the best-suited content for the class, and try to focus this content on the student. I also like to make the classes fun by incorporating multimedia to make it easier to practice verbal skills and more fun experiences for students.
You never finish learning and you never finish teaching. In the meantime, during this journey, I enjoy teaching and I hope that my students learn as well.
I adapt my classes to the linguistic needs of each student, I always try to empathize with the students and try to make the learning process enjoyable, I like to introduce games to support my explanations. And present a lot of the vocabulary with Images/Slides.
In the most basic levels (A1-A2) I like to reinforce the grammar of the student and work on the acquisition of confidence on his part with the Spanish language.
In intermediate (B1-B2), introduce more complex grammatical structures, refine pronunciation, expand connectors and vocabulary.
At Advanced Levels (C1-C2) I like to conduct debates on complex/academic topics.
