I'm from Seattle Washington, USA. I have bachelor's degree in Law and Justice, a minor in Ethics, and I completed the honors program at my university. Additionally, I have a CELTA certificate and have been teaching English for a year, both at a language center and online. I am a language learner myself (Spanish) living in a foreign country, so I understand what it's like to learn a language. I use a student centered, communicative approach where I emphasize teaching students how they can express ideas, feelings, and thoughts. While grammar is important, it is ultimately just a tool we use to express and communicate. My lessons are individualized and conversation based depending on the students needs, wants, and interests. For me, the best way to learn a language is to communicate. Reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar are essential of course, but guided speaking practice can greatly increase the rate of learning.
