Hello! My name is Jack Robinson and I am an American currently (and temporarily) based in Seattle, WA. I hold a BA in Political Science with minors in History and Global Studies from Washington State University. I also hold CELTA and a TESOL certification. I have been an English teacher for over a decade living and teaching in Warsaw, Poland (six years), Bangkok, Thailand (two years), Tbilisi, Georgia (one year) and Arica, Chile (one year). I have also worked in my university as a tutor specializing in helping non-native speakers of English plan, write and edit research papers, essays, and other academic writing tasks.
I would describe my teaching style as relaxed, yet very focused. The classroom experience should be enjoyable and challenging. My approach to language learning is communicative. I believe that the student who commits to dedicated independent study will improve their English faster with a native speaker when they are prepared to practice what they are learning actively through conversation-based tasks. In other words if you are spending your money to learn with me your time should be filled actively using English. If you come to me for writing help, for example, you will learn better by completing and submitting a piece of writing before our scheduled class.
I am best prepared to work with motivated teenagers, college students and working adults as well as other teachers who want to improve their English in order to be better at their jobs.
