Adbervial phrases

HI there! i have a really big doubt, if somebody could you please help me would be awesome, so I've been studying phrases and in a sentences i have two adverbial phrases on is modifying the main verb and I read that in some cases if we have two adverbial phrases in the same sentence the two of them can modify the main verb, the question is when can I know the adverbial phrases modify the same main verb and when can the adverbial phrase modify the other adverbial phrase? please help me. this is killing me!
