For the past three years, I have been living in Colombia and working as an ESL/English Language Arts teacher. Since moving to Colombia, I have become fluent in Spanish, so I understand firsthand the struggles that learning and improving a language can bring, both for natives and language learners.
In addition to my experience as a classroom teacher for middle and high school, I have five years of prior experience as a tutor, beginning at the University of Pittsburgh's English Language Institute, working both one-on-one with students and in small groups. As a tutor, I specialized in conversation and test prep (IELTS/TOEFL), helping students pass their exam interviews.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English Writing and have published short fiction and creative non-fiction in several small publications. While improving your writing can seem like a daunting task, there are many strategies to improve grammar, diction and syntax which can immediately make a difference in your writing.

Taught English as a foreign language to public high school students in ninth through eleventh grade ● Planned and gather resources to implement classes to six mixed-level sections (A0-B1) averaging forty students per class ● Organized a weekly cultural exchange club to give students a space to explore United States’ culture as well as share that of Valledupar ● Lead one hour weekly of advanced (B2/C1) English classes to four Colombian English teachers ● Organized and co-implement Valledupar English Immersion Day, a free day-camp-style English event for 120 public school children in Valledupar
