My name is Niovi (Niobe) and I am a Greek language and literature tutor. I hold a BA Honours degree in philology, with a specialization in Medieval and Modern Greek philology. Additionally, I hold a teacher's certificate on lesson planning and curriculum designing based on the needs and the profile of the students of Modern Greek.

As a lifelong learner I have attended various cultural programs and online courses, mostly related to alternative ways of teaching/learning, such as integrating different works of art into lessons with inquiry-based teaching methods, as well as the use of new technologies in education, into both traditional and online learning environments.

Since 2009 I have been giving private lessons, teaching modern Greek as a foreign and as a second language to children, adolescents and adults, while also providing private lessons to students attending Greek schools, teaching ancient and modern Greek language, literature and history, as well as Latin literature.

I currently offer modern Greek language courses of all CEFR levels to adolescents and adults, as well as Greek literature lessons in order to provide my students the opportunity to improve further their oral and written skills in Greek language and deepen their knowledge of Greek culture.

In our classes the lessons will be a combination of traditional and online learning methods. Hence, for the needs of our lessons we will be using educational material created and provided by me for free, in printed format and online as well (grammar and vocabulary exercises, creative writing exercises, quizzes, etc.).

The Greek language and culture courses I provide are the following:

- General Greek: It is suitable for anyone who would like to start learning Greek, to enhance their knowledge and abilities and to develop further their communication skills in Greek language.

- Greek for Tourists: It is designed for those who are planning to visit Greece and would like to learn the basics, in order to be able to communicate with the locals while traveling around the country!

- Preparation for the "Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek": It is suitable for anyone willing to acquire the Certificate of Attainment in Greek.

- Greek literature lessons: The aim of the lessons is to provide an overview of the Greek literary production from the 12th to the 20th century, focusing on the analysis and interpretation of texts representative of the main genres during this period. However, upon student's request, we will be able to discuss literary works from the antiquity (translated into modern Greek), such as works of Homer, Hesiod, Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides et al.. Please, note that these lessons will be offered mostly to students who are independent users of Greek language (Level: B1+).
