Обо мне

Hi, I'm Claudia. German is my native language and I studied English and German literature and linguistics at university. I spent 13 years in France and taught myself French years after leaving university. Soon after I started private tutoring German and English.
Learning a language as an adult was the best preparation for finally becoming a teacher. I meant to become a school teacher but decided that teaching big groups in schools was not for me. However, I discovered that I did well in one-to-one teaching. Students liked my approach and made progress. And I liked it as well. So everyone wins!
I also have ample experience in many different office roles in various industries in Germany, France and Scotland. This gave me insight in business processes, culture and many more things that can be useful for teaching.
I now live in the north-east Scotland with my partner and daughter. I'm a curious person and like to learn new things. And meeting new students and learning about what they do and helping them to become proficient in the their chosen language is exciting and satisfying.

More than 10 years experience of one-to-one tutoring of school children (from 12 years) and adults of all levels - face-to-face and online

Teaching Approach
My approach is always adapted to the students' goals, needs and learning styles.
The first lesson is a needs analysis and we spend time talking about why you want to learn and how you like learning a language. Then I make proposals about how we can proceed and what materials we could use. The student makes his/her choice and off we go!
I've taught students exclusively with language text books, without text support or only based on texts and translations - all of them successful!!!
Depending on the level and goals of the student, I also like to use authentic material, such as news or other articles, literature or videos.
I have taught the following during the last 12 years to give you an idea:
Communication, grammar, business language, preparation for extended stays in English- and German-speaking countries and exams, trouble shooting, grammar, text comprehension, vocabulary building, preparation for exams
