Hello! My name is Joseph and I am 31 years old. I’m originally from the United State. However, I currently live in Colombia, South America, where I teach English. I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Speaking with people who want to improve their English/Spanish is one of my favorite things to do.

I enjoy real-world conversational and situational English. Yes, I have a couple of degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and a TESOL certificate, but don’t let that fool you. I’m a “real” person and have many interests that we can discuss!

My teaching style? Fun and interactive!
I really like to teach English that is relevant to YOU and what you want to achieve.
Yes, we will have fun during our lessons, but we will also focus on your goals.
Some examples include small talk, rapid conversation, listening skills, idioms, or even jokes.

Why should you spend your money on me?

You are not just “another student” to me. As we work together to build your English competency, we will get to know each other more, making the lessons seem like they are about your life.
I use supplementary materials and resources outside of our normal lessons. Some examples include WhatsApp, Line, WeChat, and homework about current events.

Audio/Video Policy I do not do “audio only” calls. Your body language and facial expressions are important indicators of whether or not you understand the material we are discussing.

I work hard to personalize your lessons so that we make the best use of your time. Be ready to speak! I will correct your mistakes, often immediately, but always either immediately or later. I look forward to seeing you in class very soon! 😊.

TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Does that sound more general? It is. TESOL includes teaching English as a foreign language (such as in the China example) as well as teaching English as a second language (TESL), meaning teaching English in a country where the primary language is English. An example of TESL would be teaching English to language learners in the U.S. The important thing to keep in mind is that although there is technically a distinction between these two terms, they are widely used interchangeably so either a TEFL or TESOL certificate will meet certification requirements for jobs teaching English. One exception to this is in reference to university-level studies. For example, if you decided to pursue a degree in teaching English, you’d earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree in TESOL, not TEFL.
