About Me

Hi!

My name is Arija. I am from the United States, but I grew up in Lithuania, so I consider both languages to be native to me. I love languages, so I studied Spanish and Music (a different kind of language!) in University. Upon graduation I moved to Colombia and taught English in a public school for 9 months, gave private lessons, worked at a YMCA English immersion camp and received my CELTA English teaching certification. I would describe my teaching style as communicative, first and foremost. I think speaking is the best way to learn and master a new language. I think it's important to have fun and also practical lessons- how can the material used during our lesson be useful in real life? Learning a new language is not easy, but it can be fun too, trust me! :)
