my name is Pamela Midalimu I am from Kenya but reside in South Africa since 23/12/2008.I am a School teacher with 13 years experience I teach children 8 years to 12 years ,as well I do extra classes teaching grades 2 to grades 8 helping them with there home work then we go to English lessons ,As well I teach adult literacy to refuges who come here from non English speaking countries ,I enjoy doing this because I love the cultural exchange, I do have with my students for we learn a lot about our cultures from each other. I believe am a good Teacher being a role model especially wen working with the beginners I make a huge impact in there lives because I am Friendly, patient, companionate and confident .I love Education so I have done several courses like Physical Education ,Counselling, Basic Medical Training etc.my teaching styles are many some of them are just ideas that come into my head and I try them to see if they will suit my students and myself too but mostly I like using pictures, songs, poems and group talks this makes my students comfortable and enjoys the lessons, At the end they get a thumbs up, good job and stars for giving me there efforts, This is very important to me. Language learning can be difficult and challenging but if there is a will any thing is possible as long as patience is put into consideration, It goes slow but sure I say this from experience right now I am learning Zulu it is really difficult because of the click sounds but I take it one at a time. Am also polishing my Kikuyu language ,trying on French and Shona.
being a resourceful, creative person my strength is attention to details I love planning and executing my lesson plan for the week and review it as the week goes to be sure I complete the task I wanted to get achieved this leads to my biggest weakness ,because I am a detail oriented sometimes I try to accomplish every thing I planned out but realizes there is no enough time so I will have to pay attention to my time management and make sure I prioritize my task as well as make sure my students are on point meaning they understood the lesson very well if not I will have to redo it .in my experience i have had change and it can be challenging for every one but being a dedicated, committed and caring teacher I believe its my attitude towards the change that will make a difference.
