About Me

French you can! Je m'appelle Jordan, I am a native qualified French Teacher with 15 years of experience teaching/tutoring in the UK and the US. Whether you want to work on general conversation (read the bottom of this page!), academic French (from pupils to university students), professional French or you simply want to understand French to be able to go in a French bakery and order everything you can in a perfect French... Then I will help you with that!

Working with hundreds of learners has taught me that there are no secrets: it is all about the bases and... that dreadful pronunciation! Regarding pronunciation for instance, I can use different teaching approaches such as phonetics which are incredibly helpful, but I will also make sure to tell you about REAL FRENCH (do you know for instance that there is quite a difference between "southern" French and "northern" French? You might be surprised to better understand French in Marseille than in Paris and I will explain you why... and how!).
What I mean by "real French" is everyday life French. From smart French to slang French, all the range of expressions you might hear in the streets, restaurants, at the office or on internet videos!

If you are at school or at university or if you are preparing the DELF, I will make sure to guide you towards the next level. Teaching in the U.K. and the U.S. has given me an excellent knowledge of the many curriculums students have to follow.
If you simply feel like improving your French and/or exploring French culture, then I will tailor my sessions according to your interests!

I would like to finish by giving you an example of the many possibilities you have when talking in French. Here is a range of sentences that mean pretty much the same thing : "Should we go?" or "Let's go". It's all about knowing them and knowing when to use them! Starting with "smart" French and then finishing with slang French, with some everyday life French in the middle!

- Ne devrions-nous pas partir ? (I reckon we should go don't you think?).

- Je pense qu'il est temps de partir (I believe we should go).

- On y va ? (Let's go shall we?).

- Allez hop, on y va ! (come on, let's go!).

- Bon, je me casse. (literally: "right, I'm breaking myself", which means "I'm off!").
