About Me

I'm a 24-year-old Spaniard with a personal, professional and academic background in language and cultural studies. I graduated with distinction in English Studies at the University of Salamanca, then I taught Spanish for a year in a high school in London, and most recently I achieved a master's degree with distinction at Cambridge, where I took film studies. Right now I live in Spain, where I'm doing a PhD in comparative studies of film and literature, and I also teach English at university in the mornings and at an extracurricular school for kids in the afternoons. Other than English and my native Spanish, I also speak fluent Portuguese and a bit of both French and Italian.
I base my lessons on conversations with my students whenever that is possible, and if not, I generally try to focus on strengthening oral communication (speaking and listening skills) rather than departing from dry grammar lectures (even though that is important too!). In terms of themes, I like to let my students choose topics related to their culture (or Spanish culture) so that conversations can be interesting to both and we can learn about each other's countries and backgrounds.
Besides having devoted my entire academic career to language studies (as I explained above), I have had many experiences in language teaching, including teaching Spanish in a British high school and participating in exchanges with American students of Spanish, as well as teaching English to Spaniards of all levels (including teenagers, university students and even senior students).
