Hello! My name is Ana. I got my MA degree in English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology at the Belgrade University. My teaching career started 15 years ago. Honestly, I had other plans after graduation, and I didn’t think much about teaching then. As it usually happens in life, I started teaching English out of fun and I got to love that profession so much that I’ve been doing it for 15 years now! I had a number of classes with children, teenagers, and adults, too. I work in a state school as an English teacher and I’ve been teaching English online since 2010.
In the same year, I started teaching Serbian, as well. It was a bit challenging since I wasprimarily an English teacher. But, teaching other people your mother tongue is such a pleasure! Since I'm familiar with foreign language learning methodology, it was easy for me to find myself at ease immediately. I was teaching expats, and now my students are also Serbian emigrants and Serbian lovers. So I have 7 years of Serbian teaching experience, too.
I’ve adopted some teaching principles which are included in each of my classes: I believe that each lesson should be relevant to the student; what I teach to my students is at the same time important to them. Besides relevance, I’m giving my students a sense of achievement: they feel they have mastered a new word, grammar rule, challenging sound, a useful idiom…. It can then be their “takeaway” – something they can take with themselves after a class and that can be readily applied in their lives outside the class. And all of these should not be possible if they weren’t done in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I love the energy my students and I exchange in a class, and meeting new people has always been a great pleasure for me!
When I don’t teach, I like animals (a proud owner of 5 cats and 5 dogs), taking photos, spending time outdoors on a lovely warm day. To be honest, I hate coldness, and I’d rather hibernate through winter if possible! While waiting for spring and summer to come, I read and indulge in discovering great books and savoring black coffee.
So, I’m looking forward to having a class with you! Let’s both enjoy the classes! Hope to see you soon!
