I am a native Chinese Mandarin speaker with native level of Japanese and English because I grew up speaking them. I hold two Masters degrees from the University of Colorado - Japanese Language and Civilization, and Linguistics. The former provided me with extensive training in translation, interpretation, and literary analysis from both historical and modern perspectives. Linguistics offered me the theoretical and practical basis for teaching a foreign language. I am especially interested in applying phonetic and phonological strategies (language sound patterns) to classroom teaching in order to prepare students for a native-like pronunciation and intuition.
I served as a Japanese language course teaching assistant for 2 years with an average evaluation rating of 5.5 out of 6. I also have participated in many workshops provided by the Graduate Teacher Program focusing on curriculum designing, linguistic assessment, classroom technology usage, student-centered learning environment fostering, classroom conflict management, and cultural diversity awareness.
I am extremely excited to bring my experience and language skills to YOU and help YOU achieve YOUR life goals. I believe language learning should be fun for both students and teachers. So, are you ready? Let's start our journey today!
