About Me

Hello! My name is Nina and I am a citizen of the world.

Let me explain. I was born in Istanbul, Turkey, my father is Scottish and my mother is Singaporean. I grew up speaking English and Turkish and attending an international school with a whole group of friends from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. I love interacting with people and learning more about where they're from and what motivates them.

I went to university in Nottingham, England where I studied Psychology. During my studies I also spent a year in Mexico on a university exchange program. This experience changed my life and I fell in love with the country. I have spent the last few years getting certified to teach English (TEFL) and worked with the British Council to improve English language teaching in public schools in Mexico City. I lived and worked in Guadalajara, Mexico, for 2 years before moving back the United Kingdom in June.

I believe every individual has the ability to learn a new language, we just have to find the right motivation for that person. My style is personal and sociable in terms of engaging the student in the activities at hand; bringing their own passion for what they are learning to the table is key as this is when they are most open to learning.
