I am Viviana, I come from South Italy and I live in Amsterdam. Years ago I was given the opportunity to mean something for the refugees in my region in South Italy: a thriving life experience and from there I pursued my career as a language teacher. Since 2013 I am an enthusiast certified DITALS Italian language. I am a language student as well I have a lot of interests mostly creative. People say I am patient, funny, and easygoing. In my lessons, the main focus is speaking, without losing sight of the lexicon, grammar and culture. Teaching a language is my way to connect with other culture and understand more about other languages. Trough the communicative language teaching method I use, you will be fully immersed in the language and able to speak your first words since your very first lesson or improve your Italian. Hello, my name is Federico, I'm italian, I was born in Rome and that's where I'm living now. In the past I lived in several italian cities like Milan, Turin, Naples and others. I graduated with a degree in Economics. Io have a second-level Master degree in Italian language for foreigners. I've also obtained the Ditals certificate for teaching Italian to foreigners. I was preparing a lesson for a student of mine, when I found myself struggling with a translation. The word was “cavare”. «Pull out» I thought. But then… was there a better word? “Cavare”, in Italian, doesn’t only mean “to pull out”, that would be “estrarre”, “tirar fuori”, “rimuovere” or something else. “Cavare” has the word “cavità” (cavity) in it. “Cavare” means “to extract from a cavity”, “to remove and leave a cavity” and I couldn’t find a single word in English that suited the perfect meaning. This happens to me all the time, as I speak three languages daily and I am a “word perfectionist”: I am fascinated by the meaning that every word can have, those little shades of significance that can only be understood by those who profoundly study a language.
