Ciao! I'm Ruggero, an Italian language teacher and a jazz vocalist trained at the Conservatory of Palermo (Diploma cum laude in Jazz Voice, 2017). I've been teaching Italian online since 2016 — more than 3,500 one-to-one lessons with adults from thirty different countries. I hold a degree in Translation & Italian as a Second Language and a certification from the University for Foreigners of Perugia.
I love teaching my language and culture, and I bring real attention, energy and creativity to every lesson. My background as a professional jazz singer also helps me guide students through the sounds and rhythm of Italian pronunciation — the music of the language.

I have a master's degree in teaching at the Giovanni Pascoli School. Hello, my name is Federico, I'm italian, I was born in Rome and that's where I'm living now. In the past I lived in several italian cities like Milan, Turin, Naples and others. I graduated with a degree in Economics. Io have a second-level Master degree in Italian language for foreigners. I've also obtained the Ditals certificate for teaching Italian to foreigners. I was preparing a lesson for a student of mine, when I found myself struggling with a translation. The word was “cavare”. «Pull out» I thought. But then… was there a better word? “Cavare”, in Italian, doesn’t only mean “to pull out”, that would be “estrarre”, “tirar fuori”, “rimuovere” or something else. “Cavare” has the word “cavità” (cavity) in it. “Cavare” means “to extract from a cavity”, “to remove and leave a cavity” and I couldn’t find a single word in English that suited the perfect meaning.
This happens to me all the time, as I speak three languages daily and I am a “word perfectionist”: I am fascinated by the meaning that every word can have, those little shades of significance that can only be understood by those who profoundly study a language.
And that is what I do: I study, all the time, to speak each of my three languages at its best, and I teach, to make my students learn properly the meaning of words and their best combination.
