Hakkımda

Hi everyone, I'm Adrian, a native English speaker from Australia, and I'm passionate about both teaching and learning languages. I recently graduated with graduate certificate in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) and now I want to teach people English. I have had previous experience teaching at secondary and primary schools in Australia as well as the UK. More recently I have been involved in volunteer teaching and mentoring programs for refugee and migrant families.

I would describe my English skills as advanced, especially in writing. I have completed two liberal arts degrees majoring in history - one undergraduate and one masters. Most recently in my TESOL degree I studied English grammar.

Also I am a student of arabic, which I have been studying for the last 5 years. So I understand the huge challenges involved in learning a new lanugage, and I can bring my experiences and strategies that I have deployed for my own learning, into my teaching.

As for my teaching, I strongly believe in the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, which emphasises verbal communication through conversations and practical tasks as the learning medium. I am also very interested in the 'lexical approach' - which sees language acquisition as learning words at the phrase or 'lexical' level, rather than individual words. This is especially important for gaining fluency in a language.
