Hi, I'm Bonnie, and I'm not your average e-teacher! I'm a published writer, professional editor, and linguistics researcher; I'm also an animal lover, collector of body art, bike-traveler, music enthusiast, and keen examiner of both the human condition and the universe we inhabit. But first and foremost, I'm a certified ESL teacher with more than 10 years of experience in both the classroom and online.
I provide editing services (please contact me for more information) as well as more traditional online classes. I specialize in business and academic English, informal discourse and conversation, exam preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS), phonetics (the sounds of speech), and pragmatics (the use of language in the North American context, such as idioms, colloquialisms, and social conventions). I have experience teaching all ages and levels, although I specialize in intermediate- and advanced-level adult learners.
Areas of research: textual appropriation in second language academic writing, computer-mediated corrective feedback, the use of social media for argumentative writing, and psycholingusitic investigation of morphosyntax. Comprehensive essay topic: second language anxiety.
Major in English Rhetoric and Professional Writing. Graduated with Honours.
