Hello, I am a 24 year old Secondary Education student about to enter my third year. Teaching and education has always been a passion of mine, but you can find me most often reading a book, or planning my next trip. Last month I took my most recent trip to South East Asia, where I decided to complete my TESOL Certificate in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Throughout most of my adult life I have volunteered with students from the grades of 7 and higher, but my teaching practice in Cambodia was by far the best and most rewarding experience for teaching. I was able to plan lessons for Kindergarten classes and all levels of primary. My teaching style is a mix between getting the students up and moving through activities and competitions to keep them on their toes, but also individual work where I can focus on each student. With individual activities each student is able to challenge themselves and I have more opportunity to assess more advanced skills. My approach is typically to start class with getting students up with a moving activity, or some sort of competition to get them thinking about English. I feel that this aspect is of incredible importance to get students brains working and have them looking forward to coming to a class.
