Hi Everybody!! My name is Beatriz and I am from a beautiful small island called Menorca, (Spain) located in the Mediterranean Sea.
When I was little I always thought I would leave the island and so I did when I was 17. I moved to Barcelona where I studied social work/ education in the University of Barcelona. I also hold a Master’s in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
I have lived in Nicaragua, Dublin, Washington DC and Spain. I love traveling and meeting new people as much as I like learning new languages.
One of the most challenging experiences I can think of, had place in Nicaragua where I taught reading math and science to children ages 7 to 12. I also got involved in various nutrition and hygiene programs. I have also taught adults (mostly women in need), tutored high school students in a community center in Barcelona.
Since I am a social educator, I have a lot of experience working in reception centers with minors from Africa. Teaching them Spanish is the first step to engage them and make them get involved in the social services programs, as well as it is a way to integrate these minors in the Spanish culture.
I’m a good communicator and I have learned how to design activities based on various methods and strategies such as task-based language learning, the communicative method, projects based learning…. However, every single person is different and I will be more than delighted to help you out find the way that suits you better to learn the language. I had to learn English and I know that learning a new language can be very challenging, so I am going to try my best to make your process fun!!
Thanks!! I look forward to meeting you!!
Beatriz
