I am a language fanatic. I have been studying and teaching myself languages as long as I can remember. I have wasted a lot of time studying ineffectively, but that's helped me to reach the point where I now know exactly how best I learn and have a toolbox of useful methods and techniques that I use for myself and when teaching. I am fluent in German, Spanish and Catalan, am teaching myself Greek and Swedish and have studied Persian and Kurdish quite extensively.
I have been teaching English for almost 10 years. I have taught individuals, small groups and big classes, I have taught beginners, intermediate and advanced students, I have taught teenagers and adults, I have taught exam preparation, course books and conversational classes. So I know what works when it comes to teaching, and I know what doesn't. On top of my experience I have a Trinity CertTESOL teaching qualification.
My teaching style is based on my experience as a teacher and my experience as a learner. I don't want to waste my or your time with ineffective methods. I don't want to teach you the type of English that you'll only ever hear in a classroom. I want you to learn the English you will need in order to understand and communicate in real situations. I know a lot about English grammar and vocabulary and can explain those tricky parts which trip up lots of students, but the focus will be the student's interest rather than what I want to teach.
