¡Hola amig@s!
My name is Mónica Arana Carranza, I’m from Spain but I’ve been traveling the world for a bunch of years. I lived in Italy, Portugal, Miami (USA) and Mexico. I feel very comfortable dealing with people from different countries. I find it a win-win situation: a cultural exchange that makes both sides more open and tolerant. I have a Communication Degree and the CAP (Certificado Aptitud Pedagógica), the certificate that proves your teaching skills in Spain. I love my language, I think Spanish is one of the richest and most beautiful languages in the world. I’ve been working with it all my life: as a journalist, as a fiction writer and also as a language teacher. I gave Spanish private classes in all the countries I lived in. It’s been always a pleasure, students were very motivated and I was so proud to see how some of them passed successfully the DELE exam. I have experience with students from different levels and backgrounds: I’ve worked with kids on a very basic level, also with adult students and even retired people who wanted to improve their already existing communication abilities. My classes are very down-to-earth. First, I need to know what my students' needs are. Once we set our goals, we start working with books, videos, songs… I like to share with them a social/cultural approach by working with practical aspects and characters in daily life. Another plus that I have compared to other teachers is the fact that I have a piece of good knowledge of the different types of Spanish. Some students are more interested in Latino, others in Castillian. That is not a problem for me after 6 years in Miami and Mexico! Mexican, Argentinian, Cuban… I can help them with different words and meanings, which is pretty interesting. That gives them a wider perspective on the importance of this widely speaking language.
What I’d like to offer here is realistic classes, based on my students' demand, 100% interactive. I want to make them TALK. I know that’s the hardest part of the process of learning a new language. You have to feel confident about yourself and I can do this. I am an easy person and a good listener and… I am also fun!
