Hello! Bom dia! Bonjour! Hola!
My name is Laura Hughes and I’m from the United States of America. I have studied Portuguese, French, and Spanish so I know how exciting it is to learn a new language, as well as how frustrating it can be at times.
In 2011, I graduated from Brigham Young University in Hawaii with a bachelor’s degree in International Cultural Studies and a certificate in TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I am delighted at the opportunity to be your English Teacher!
I have hosted two teenage exchange students, one a native Arabic speaker and one a native Spanish speaker. During their time with me I helped them to perfect their English; particularly with regard to conversational English, writing, and accent reduction.
As a published author of six books, I am a proficient writer. I help native and non-native speakers improve their writing in English. I recently earned a Master's degree in Creative Writing.
As a teacher, I believe that learning English should be rewarding and enjoyable for all ages and all proficiency levels.
I cater lessons to you individually based on your goals and your struggles.
I have the most fun helping you with conversational skills since I believe that's where most of our relationships are built.
