Hi, I'm Tim from London. I'm a very experienced teacher of English as a foreign language. I've been teaching for about 14 years, and I've worked all over the world.
I specialise in teaching adults. I've worked for large corporations such as Santander bank, JP Morgan finance, Sharp electronics and Novartis pharmaceuticals. I've also worked for some hotels, teaching tourism and hospitality English to staff. I've taught everyone from kitchen porters to CEOs.
My strengths are in teaching language fluency and instilling confidence. I work with groups and one-to-ones, perhaps helping beginners to use and understand basic phrases that will help them to interact with hotel guests, or helping executives to give presentations to shareholders in their second or possibly third language. I create a friendly atmosphere where my students feel comfortable to make mistakes - as this is how we learn! I will then provide them with skills and techniques that will enable them to add to their learning in interesting and logical ways.
I have wide personal interests, primarily music, culture, politics and travel. I make an effort to use the student's interests and experiences as a resource for our classes. Everybody likes to talk, and a student will open up if they can talk about things that interest them.
