In your first language you have opinions, you're funny sometimes, you can read a room — and in English you are professional, competent, and about thirty percent of yourself. You've been calling that an English problem, but I don't think it is. What happened is that you learned English for work, so what you got was the work version — functional, careful, good in meetings, not much use anywhere else. It keeps people at a distance without meaning to, and the strange thing is that both sides can feel it even when neither can name it.
