I was born in Japan and studied in Canada and USA.
When I was studying music in LA, I learned Brazilian music and a couple of years later I went to Brazil and met my husband.
I didn't know how to speak Portuguese at that time, I only knew how to sing in Portuguese, but from the very first day of Brazil I learned how to have fun and communicate with people without knowing much of the theory and vocabulary. It was just like how people learn jazz. There's a theory behind, but the most importantly we should feel and improvise. And to understand the theory, you first should listen, listen and listen.
So my learning and teaching method can be a little unique. It's not like the traditional way that we all know, which you read, write, and listen to the explanations, instead, I want you to feel it.

Let me share my passion for languages with you. I am a native Japanese speaker who has lived around the world. As an adult, I learned English and Spanish, and now I'm also studying Chinese and Russian.
For beginners, I find it best to start by learning basic grammar and vocabulary.
For intermediate level and above, it depends on your preference, we can focus on conversation or working on JLPT exam, read news articles together, etc.
I have over 7 years of experience working for Japanese and American financial firms in Tokyo's financial district. Much of that experience involved verbal and written translation between senior Japanese and American business people.
