Hi, my name’s Chris. I’m from the UK. I’ve been teaching English for 9 years, both in classrooms and online. I work with both children and adults. As you can hear in my video, I speak English very clearly and can modulate my pace to speak more slowly to help your understanding. I’m friendly and patient. I’ve lived abroad, so I know how difficult and frustrating it can be to learn a foreign language!
It would be very helpful if you could tell me a little bit about yourself prior to our class. I would like to know your level and experience of learning and using English, your expected outcomes of our lessons, and whether you would rather have free speech on a variety of topics, I note and correct mistakes, and make suggestions where appropriate, or would you rather have classes with a course book and exercises to aid your vocabulary and grammar? I’m here to help you. Homework can be set, if desired.
For parents, again, it would be very useful to know a little bit about your son or daughter beforehand. My lessons consist of reading activities to improve vocabulary and pronunciation. We also work on phonetics, grammar, and spelling. For speaking, we can play learning games.
I have experience prepping students for both job interviews and exams, including IELTS and CPE, CAE, FCE, PET, and KET. I am happy to report that all my students passed with the results they desired. My approach is to use the lesson to maximise speaking practise as this is the most effective use of your time. Home tasks will be set to improve listening, reading and use of English, and writing skills.
Some other services I provide include proofreading and I have recorded voiceovers for TV advertisements, in case anyone was wondering.
