عني

I'm Hugo, from Vigo — a city on the Atlantic coast of Galicia, in the northwest of Spain. I've been teaching Spanish for ten years, to students from over 30 countries, and I still find it one of the most interesting things I do.

Languages have always been central to my life. I've lived, studied and worked in Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Canada — and those experiences shaped the way I teach more than any certificate did. Before becoming a full-time teacher, I worked in engineering, hospitality and education. At some point I stopped pretending those were leading somewhere else.

My lessons are personal, flexible and human. I don't give the same class to every student. I try to understand who you are, how you learn, what you need and what kind of relationship you want to have with Spanish — and I build from there.

Some students come for conversation and fluency. Others need structure, grammar, confidence, pronunciation or long-term guidance. Some need all of it in different proportions each week. My job is to listen, adapt, correct when it's useful, and help you move forward in a way that actually sticks.

I'm certified in ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) and I work with students from A1 to C2. I especially enjoy working with curious people — those who like languages, culture, travel, history, food or simply good conversation. The level matters less than the attitude.

Because I'm from Galicia, I can also work with students interested in the north of Spain, Galician culture, or the relationship between Spanish, Galician and Portuguese — a linguistic corner of Europe that most people don't know exists, and that changes how you hear everything once you do.

Spanish is not a set of grammar rules. It's a way to connect with people, places and stories. That's what I'm here to help you experience.

Not a test, not a sales pitch. A real conversation — to understand where you are, what you've tried before, what hasn't worked, and what you actually want from Spanish. I'll listen, ask questions, and by the end we'll both know whether it makes sense to continue.
