About Me
As a CELTA-certified English teacher and trainee psychotherapist, I bring a unique blend of professional teaching experience and empathetic, therapeutic engagement to my classes. Having lived and worked in China, Europe, and Latin America, I understand the complexities and challenges of living abroad, enriching my ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. My career has spanned public schools, private institutes, and remote communities, empowering a broad spectrum of students, from corporate executives to local fishermen.

My approach to English teaching challenges the traditional, often colonial framework of language education. English language learning has historically imposed certain cultural values and norms, subtly prioritising Western perspectives and lifestyles, which can overshadow local cultures and languages. By acknowledging this, I strive to create a more inclusive, decolonial learning environment where power dynamics are balanced, and diverse cultural expressions are valued.
Conversational and communicative English is at the core of my teaching, focusing on discussions about personal experiences and interests. This method allows students to express themselves authentically, fostering a supportive atmosphere that de-emphasizes rigid corrections and traditional hierarchies.
The therapeutic dimension of our sessions is integrated seamlessly, supporting not just language improvement but also personal well-being, making our time together both educational and healing.
