Journalist, Pilot ✈ Traveler
I'm from Bogota, Colombia (South America), I'm 30 years old. I'm a Commercial Pilot and a Journalist. I love teaching and sharing my love for foreign languages and cultures with others. My native language is Spanish but I started learning French when I was 7, English when I was 8 and Italian when I was 13 years old, so I've been there, I know what it feels to be a student and I know the path from not knowing a single word to become bilingual... Welcome to this beautiful experience, I'm pretty sure we're going to have fun while learning.
Learning a foreign language is not as difficult as people usually say, trust me. It only takes practice, patience, confidence, and compromise to get to learn, write and speak well... I've been a teacher and a tutor for 10 years now and, during this time, I've concluded that having a great time is the best way to learn. So, be prepared to share your interests and practice while talking about different topics, especially those you care about.
I've noticed at the beginning that students are usually shy when it comes to speaking, but they eventually end up gaining confidence that's why I always encourage them to talk and make mistakes so I can correct them. On top of that, as I stated before, I want my students to have a great time while they're learning so I like them to propose the topics we're going to talk about during the lesson.
When they are at a basic level I like to make them feel comfortable and go with their flow so they never feel pushed to learn fast. Also, I like to give them the tools to be able to practice by themselves... I want to prepare my students to face real life situations when they travel.
You know, learning a foreign language is getting to know and experience a brand new culture... It's like a whole new universe opening in front of us...
