- If the main verb of the sentence is in the past tense, it probably means already.
Ya terminé el trabajo, ahora puedo ir a dormir.
- If the main verb of the sentence is in the present tense, it probably means now.
Ya tengo que irme al trabajo.
- If it goes with the word no, it probably means anymore.
Ya no tengo que trabajar los fines de semana.
- Sometimes we use it as a filler word to express emphasis or frustration.
