自己紹介
Hello everyone!
My name is Pablo, and I am from Colombia. I have spent most of my life in Bogotá, a city full of culture and one of the most neutral accents in all of Latin America. I am also quite comfortable with the costeño accent as I’ve spent time in Barranquilla as well.
I am a language aficionado, speaking not only my native language of Spanish, but I am fluent in English as I attended an English speaking international school. I am also studying French, so I understand what it feels like to be a language student! My love of words and language has been a constant in my life. (I even like to write songs in both English and Spanish and have been locally successful with my band!)
I have carefully crafted my own system to help YOU on your Spanish journey! Check out my lessons per student average. Students that work with me stay motivated to learn.
No more of those boring classes doing nothing but reading a textbook and filling out worksheets. No more of those classes where you only speak and leave thinking it was fun but not sure you learned anything. I believe STRONGLY in a balance of speaking, pronunciation through reading, grammar, and immersion through culture.
I break up each class into these 4 sections to make sure every student gets not only a balanced education, but a fun, truly individualized class!
We get to know each other during the speaking portion each class period, and I use that information to build your personalized readings, grammar program, and cultural immersion. I love learning more about my students and their interests!
I am comfortable working with all ages and levels, from kids to adults, and beginner to advanced. I am a very patient teacher, but also very picky, especially with grammar and speaking. I am careful to correct my students’ errors with kindness, so you can always trust you are learning the correct pronunciation and sentence structure.
I am an American film buff. This means I am comfortable having nuanced discussions about the differences between Spanish and English phrases, not just direct translations.
I can help you understand slang and the intent and meaning behind various phrases and words in both languages, including cultural references. I also studied Visual Arts and have been a language teacher, both independently and as part of a Language Coaching Company for 3 years (BSR Idiomas...check it out). I have also given lectures and conferences on History, Cinema, and Psychology.
I occasionally work in TV and filmmaking and collaborate as a columnist. My interests and expertise allow me to bring a diverse set of skills to help you become expressive, confident, and ultimately fluent in Spanish. Book your first class today and see for yourself!
