I was born and raised in Tokyo and speak standard Japanese. I am a certified Japanese language teacher.
I taught Japanese at a language school in Tokyo for three years and now offer online lessons.
In addition to Japanese, I speak English, Chinese, and a little Italian. I have also worked for many years in the travel industry and on World Expo projects in Shanghai, Milan, and Osaka.

Hello, welcome to my Japanese language course!
I’m from Yokohama, one of the biggest cities in Japan, located on Tokyo Bay just South of Tokyo, so I speak and teach Tokyo dialect, also known as standard dialect.
My major was English language and literature and I did my graduate thesis on intercultural communications. I also took ESL courses with several different professors over the years so I understand how hard it is to study different languages and I know what works.
My methodology on language learning is a combination of immersive and traditional learning. The Japanese language requires a great amount of effort to master, but it becomes far easier if you use the language colloquially first, as children do. My father’s family has been rice farmers there for over 200 years. It’s a peaceful village where people live close to nature, helping each other with rice and vegetable farming. Every year, the community holds a traditional festival at the local shrine to pray for a good harvest—one of the traditions I treasure deeply.
