Hey! Thanks for checking out my profile. Below you’ll find some information about me and what to expect in a lesson, but first you should know that right now I only work with intermediate and advanced level students.
I won’t bore you with the details of my resume since you can see for yourself below, but suffice to say that I’ve been teaching English for almost 25 years to students of all ages in a wide variety of settings--one one one, in classrooms, and online.
It’s a bit difficult to describe what a lesson with me will be like because the lessons are as unique as each individual student, but there are several things you can expect. First we’ll spend time making sure I understand your goals, and as I plan your lessons, I’m always thinking about how best to help you achieve those goals.
Next, you can rest assured that I come to every lesson well prepared with a tailor-made plan for you, whether it’s a list of discussion topics and questions or a point of grammar or vocabulary you want to work on. Most students want to work on their speaking skills, so you’ll do lots of talking in my class. While we’re conversing, I give feedback and take notes, looking for patterns and areas for improvement. I use a shared document, so you’ll have all the notes from our lessons, and for those who want it, I give homework too!
One of the most important things I do is give feedback. My goals when doing this are to be kind and encouraging, but also honest and helpful. I understand what it’s like to be nervous about making mistakes, and I always have that in mind as I’m offering constructive criticism. It’s very important to me that you feel relaxed and confident when you speak, so I do my best to provide a positive atmosphere.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions, and I look forward to meeting you soon!
