I'm interested in languages and other cultures. I think a language should be learnt in a fun and engaging way not following a boring outdated syllabus but according to the students' passions. I'm constantly learning new languages, like French at the moment. J'etude francais et voudrais t'enseigner espagnol si tu vienens de France, Canada ou d'otre pays.
I grew up in a family of teachers and have 9 years of experience in formal teaching. 4 years ago I finished a Masters degree in teaching at Universidad de Guadalajara. I am about to finish my PhD. in Education and Learning Technologies. I greatly enjoy applying what I learnt to my classes. My teaching focuses on the communicative approach while including activities from other methods.
According to Cambridge University you need 3 basic conditions to learn a language: exposure to the language, focus on form and interaction. My teaching style revolves around these 3 tenets. For exposure we use as much authentic material as possible: watching videos, reading books and listening to songs. I have a background in computers and so I enjoy showing a great deal of material.
In order to understand better, we need to focus on form for example analyzing verb "ser" in Spanish: "yo soy, tu eres" etc... Finally, you can interact with me and other Spanish speakers by getting involved in communicative situations through meaningful activities specially designed for you to learn. A regular class from me will have these 3 stages.
I teach different levels and people from different cultures and age groups like children, teenagers and adults. I've travelled to Canada, China and Thailand to get to know other cultures.
I specialize in exam preparation but I can still teach general Spanish.
My classes are tailored to your own interests and needs. You tell me what you're into and I will prepare a lesson for you packed with , stories videos and interactive material to keep you engaged.
