Hello, I am a native English speaker (British) and have been teaching English since 2008. I am Celta and Delta qualified and am a trained Cambridge speaking examiner. I have lots of experience with general and business English at all ages and levels. I have taught monolingual and multilingual classes in many countries including Ecuador, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Australia. I am bilingual, I speak Spanish fluently. I studied French and German at school and have picked up some Portuguese over the years. I am currently learning Italian. My teaching demeanor is friendly, calm, professional and patient. I have a wide range of interests including: travelling, cooking, photography, psychology, philosophy, science, politics, health and fitness, business and art. My answer: When you say something and I don't follow, I tell you. Not because your grammar is wrong. Because I genuinely didn't understand. So you have to find another way. Different words, different structure, different angle. And in that moment of searching, something happens that correction never produces — you solve the problem yourself. Then, when you've found your way through and I understand you, if there's a more precise or powerful way to say what you just fought to express — a phrase a native speaker would reach for naturally in that situation — I give it to you right there.
