I'm an Irish/British native and a TEFL-certified teacher with over 8 years of experience in teaching (and learning) languages. My experience ranges from being a substitute German teacher in an international kindergarten to lecturing at a technical university in Austria. I teach absolute beginners as well as advanced learners.
My goal is that you leave class with active (meaning that you can easily use it yourself in your everyday life) vocabulary and phrases. In order to achieve this, I will:
-manage the entire learning journey so that you don't have to think about it
-actively train with you in class (that means correction, repetition and more repetition until perfection - it's more effort for you and me but it also means no homework or extra exercises needed outside of class)
-teach you through stories and context so that the vocabulary is meaningful for you and actually sticks
Of course, if you prefer learning in a certain way, I will adapt to you and create a plan based on your needs.
The first lesson will be used to get to know each other, talk about your learning style and goals and then we can get started right away.

This thoughtful manner enabled each participant to follow the lessons at their own pace, while at the same time posing difficult topics or questions to the more advanced participants.
I found Philippa to be a very calm, fun and intuitive person who puts in a lot of effort and enjoys engaging with her clients/students/participants on a sympathetic and personal level. Her content was based on the needs of the participants, so she told us that she discussed electrical engineering and circuit diagrams with other groups while we ourselves dealt with the casting process. In summary, I can say that I have rarely met someone who teaches in such an engaging way and I admire the energy she puts into preparing and editing the course material. The teaching is always very agile and adapted to the group and evolves with the members over the duration of the course. I can only recommend everyone to take the opportunity to work with Philippa on developing their language skills."
