Are monolinguals handicapping themselves by not learning another language? Why or why not? 

Comprehend (verb): grasp mentally; understand

Prison (noun): a building in which people are legally held as a punishment for a crime they have committed or while awaiting trial

Handicap (verb): to place (someone) at a disadvantage
