Dear students,
My name is Jan Elie, a native English speaker from the U.S.A. I have been teaching ESL (English as a second language) for 10 years and counting. My training in teaching English started in the United States but I have taught in Colombia, Brazil, Haiti, France and now back in the United States. I am fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and French. I enjoy sharing the passion I have for learning languages with my students. I teach all levels and ages, focusing my classes on the student’s needs. My teaching style uses the communicative approach so you will be speaking even from a beginner level. Learning languages has given me patience and understanding to identify what skills are needed in mastering any language. So sign up for your first class and let’s get the ball rolling!

Sou Jan Elie e minha língua nativa é inglês dos EUA. Estou ensinando inglês como segunda língua há 10 anos. Meu treinamento em inglês começou nos Estados Unidos, mas já dei aula na Colômbia, no Brasil, no Haiti, na França e agora nos EUA. Falo espanhol, português, criolo haitiano e francês. Eu gosto de compartilhar a minha paixão por aprender línguas diferentes com os meus alunos. Ensino para todos os níveis e idades, focando as aulas nas necessidades de cada aluno. Meu estilo de ensino tem uma abordagem comunicativa, então os alunos estão falando desde o nível iniciante. Mi nombre es Jan Elie, y mi lengua nativa es el inglés de los Estados Unidos. He estado enseñando inglés como una segunda lengua por 10 años. Mi entrenamiento enseñando ingles comenzó en los Estados Unidos pero enseñé en Colombia, Brasil, Haití, Francia y ahora en los Estados Unidos. Soy fluida con el español, el Portugués, el criollo haitiano y el francés. Disfruto compartir la pasión que tengo por aprender idiomas con mis estudiantes. Enseño para todos los niveles y las edades, enfocando mis clases en las necesidades de los estudiantes. Mi estilo de enseñanza usa el enfoque de la comunicación, así se puede hablar desde un nivel bajo.
