I love my job! Just two weeks after I began teaching in 2009, I realised that I had a talent. Therefore, teaching has always been easy for me and I feel very confident. Many long-term students have become my friends.
I have several unique selling points that are important when future students are searching for their teacher. Slowly, step by step, I too learnt elementary grammar together with my students and, since then, I can competently explain it. I enjoy grammar whereas the majority of native speakers cannot explain grammar at all, because they do not know it themselves. They learnt English as children and were never taught the rules of grammar at school.
Furthermore, I have a nice British accent. In fact, my accent quickly improved when I first visited overseas 17 years ago. I began to deliberately speak clearly, carefully pronouncing every word, so that people could understand me more easily. This quickly became my normal speech.
Finally, I am a patient person. Some children are much happier showing me their toys, in comparison to reading from a book or learning an English story for school. However, this is very normal. I allow the children to release their excitement as they show me such toys and pets, or tell me about their weekend, before guiding them back to the tasks required in our lesson. In fact, many of the intelligent children do not even need my help to do their school homework. They are clever enough to do it themselves, answering the questions often quicker than I can. However, they enjoy the company and moral support of studying with me, providing them with motivation.
I have a qualifying law degree from London.
