Is Spanish an important language in the world?

Every language is important. They are vehicles for culture and communication, they provide you with knowledge, improve your braincells conections... but we will speak about that in other posts. I want to talk today about the importance of the Spanish language in the world.

Spanish is the official language in:
  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • Cuba
  • Dominican Republic
  • Ecuador
  • El Salvador
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Guatemala
  • Honduras
  • Mexico
  • Nicaragua
  • Panama
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • Spain
  • Uruguay
  • Venezuela
That´s 20 countries altogether! 10% of the world countries aprox. Besides it is also spoken in the U.S.A. by 40 million people! So altogether makes a total of 477 million people. If we add the people who speaks it as a second language, that is 572 million people.
I think that those figures are enough in order to realise how important in the world is the language that Miguel de Cervantes spoke.
And that´s all for today!
Stay tuned!
See you!

Hi! My name's Juan! I have a passion about languages (learning and teaching them). I´ve been learning languages for more than twenty years and among them there are languages so different like German, Italian or Chinese. I´ve also taught and coached students from different backgrounds and in different languages, besides I am certificated for Spanish teaching. I base my teaching on active conversation, doubt solving and a very flexible coaching process. ¡Hola!
