Ocasión de encuentro y amistad

El mate, variedad de té verde, es una infusión que se bebe en ciertos países de Sudamérica. Se remonta a los nativos aborígenes. El árbol era considerado como un regalo de los dioses. Luego fue adoptado en otros ámbitos y regiones.

Suele beberse en pequeñas calabazas desecadas. Se le añade una cánula metálica llamada “bombilla” que posee un filtro en un extremo. Puede consumirse caliente o frío, endulzado o no, con hojas de menta, o cáscara de naranja u otros aromas. Se comparte en familia y con amigos como símbolo de encuentro y de amistad. Del mate deriva la acción de “matear”.
