Which books have you read recently that changed your life?
I read a book called the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, this book impressed me quite a lot. I would recommend this one.
I have many books on my reading list, but it is possible that I do not finish any of them, or that I only choose certain books and continue reading more of the same by the same author.
The modern authors that I have read in recent years are: Norman Mailer, John Updike, and Orhan Pamuk. Norman Mailer is a journalistic literary genius who is able to capture real modern historical people and fictionalize their lives, as in The Castle in the Forest. John Updike is a genius at creating characters and capturing the historical, social landscape of the time, a good example is Toward the End of Time.
Let me know which writers you admire in your own language or in translation, and which you would like to read. I am currently interested in history, science, and areas relating to the meaning of life. Great writers will always tackle these issues and expose some kind of truth that enriches our understanding of life.
