Grocery lists and other daily tasks in English

I've often thought that one of the best ways to learn English (outside of lessons) is to do as many daily tasks in English as possible.

Do you find it possible to do daily tasks in English?
If so, do you find it helps you learn English better and faster?

What daily tasks do you usually do in English?
Which ones are the easiest to do in English? Which ones are the most fun?

What else do you do to learn English better and faster outside of class?
