While learning new languages, appreciate your native language, culture. I have been fortunate to grow up with all walks of life hearing different languages, colleagues and clients who speak other languages in addition to English, travel globally and enjoy being in new places, listening to the mother tongue of others in mixed cross cultural settings. The beauty of our differences...it is music to my ears, yummy food in my tummy, art and culture to heighten the senses and experiences that are full of joy.
Be mindful that while you may hail from the same country, not everyone may speak the same dialect, are assumed to be easily understood. Embrace what you know. Learn and grow with the new.
