Due to technological advances, will learning a language be a waste of time?

This is a theme I have been discussing in my classes. Due to advances in artificial intelligence and machine translation you will be able to shortly communicate very effectively with people who have no knowledge of your language and you no knowledge of theirs. Devices will take care of the language communication for you so you won't need to learn even simple phrases of the language you are communicating with. Obviously, many languae teachers would be out of a job. What do you think?
