As a conversation activity, I often give my students a few quotes and have students rephrase them or explain the meaning behind the quote in their own words. I recently had a conversation class where the topic was about books and reading.
Here are a few quotes I used for the class:
1. No two persons ever read the same book. - Edmund Wilson
*Extra challenge - Why use 'persons' here instead of 'people'?
2. The man who doesn't read has no advantage over the man who can't read. - Anonymous
3. Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't so new after all.
How would you rephrase the quotes in your own words?
