¿Habrán? Advanced Spanish grammar
5 years agoA very, very, very common mistake in spanish among both students and native speakers is adding an "n" to the verb "Haber" in its impersonal form.
Let me give you an example so that the explanation will be easier to understand.
Incorrect:
¡Habrán muchas fiestas en diciembre!
(There will be so many parties in december!)
Correct:
¡Habrá muchas fiestas en diciembre!
But why is this so common and why is it a mistake?
Well, in spanish we are always "conjucating" the words to match the number and gender of the noun. Meaning if it's plural or singular, male of female. Therefore, if a cat is a male we will say El gato and not La gato. And if there are many cats that are male we will say Los gatos and not Las gatos. This is why here the "n" is implying the plural for us.
However, as in this case the verb "Haber" is in its impersonal form, which means that the nouns in the sense is not the subject but a direct complement. This means that we will not "conjugate" any word to match that noun. Not to match the gender nor the number.
